About
Basecamp Burfjord is a lodge in Kvænangen, northern Norway — one of the region's most undiscovered corners. Set where forest, fjord and mountains meet, with a view of Kvænangstinden that looks different every day and never gets old.
We opened in summer 2026, driven by a simple idea: to share what makes life in the north so meaningful. The contrasting seasons. The raw nature and wildlife. The Arctic phenomena — from polar night to midnight sun. The food that comes from the landscape around us. Every month here offers something different, and we want our guests to experience that.
Basecamp is exactly what the name suggests — a sturdy, comfortable base from which you explore. A place to return to after a day on the mountain, by the fjord, or under the northern lights. We take care of the rest: a warm room, good food, a sauna waiting. We want you to unwind, forget daily life for a moment, connect with nature and yourself, and leave with something that stays with you.
The lodge is run by Gerald, Ella and Chloe — three people from three different countries who each found their way to northern Norway and never left. Gerald is from the Netherlands and has spent eight years in the Norwegian tourism industry as a guide, host and chef. Ella came from the UK and Chloe from France, both working as guides and hosts in the region. What we share is a love for this place and a belief that Kvænangen deserves to be discovered.
We work closely with Nordlysmat, who are based in the same building. Together we harvest, produce and prepare food from the landscape around us — bringing the flavours of northern Norway to our guests' table.
