About

Basecamp Burfjord is a lodge in Kvænangen, northern Norway, one of the region's most undiscovered corners. The company was established in summer 2026, a new company but a continuation of the previous company running the lodge. Our aim is simple: to share the culture, nature and rhythm of life here in the north. The changing seasons, the wildlife, the polar night and the midnight sun, and food that comes from the landscape around us. Every month brings something different, and we want our guests to enjoy all of it.

Basecamp is exactly what the name suggests, a sturdy, comfortable base from which you explore. A place to return to after a day on the mountain, by the fjord, or under the northern lights. We take care of the rest: a warm room, good food, a sauna waiting. We want you to unwind, forget daily life for a moment, connect with nature and yourself, and leave with something that stays with you.


The lodge is run by Gerald, Ella and Chloe, three people from three different countries who each found their way to northern Norway and never left. What we share is a love for this place and a belief that Kvænangen deserves to be discovered.

Based in the same building, Nordlysmat is our partner in bringing the flavours of northern Norway to the table. Together we harvest, produce and prepare food from the landscape around us.

Basecamp Burfjord sits at the edge of Kvænangen, surrounded by mountains and forest. Remote enough to feel like an escape, close enough to reach comfortably. If needed, we can also help arrange transport, just get in touch ahead of your stay.

Address: Moen 3, 9161 Burfjord, Norway.
Nearest airport: Alta Airport (ALF), the main entry point for reaching us, about 1 hour 15 minutes by car.
From Alta: ~1 hour by car via E6, a fairly straightforward drive along the fjord.
From Tromsø: ~4.5 hours by car via E6 north, a scenic drive through the Lyngen Alps and along the fjord.
Public transport: Bus connections available from Alta and Tromsø. Check schedules in advance as frequency varies by season.
Winter driving: Check road conditions on 175.no before travelling, especially the Kvænangsfjellet pass (E6).
